My initial idea was combining hairy textured fabric into a citrus fruit to create a bitten effect But after testing it on sewing machine, I realized the fabric I use should be way bigger and double the width than my previous one… Since it’s my first time on the sewing machine by myself, I decided to pivot and go with something simpler and turn 2D design into 3D. I tried different types of leaf shape and top of the fruit. One thing I learned from this process is to that the shape will shrink in size when sewing. This mean, when the assignment says to create a shape no bigger than 20cmx20cm. I drew on paper within the size of 20x20. The final result turned out to be a lot smaller, at approximately 10cm. Another challenge I encountered was with the heavy duty sewing machine where the threads get thick and messes up. When I switched to the regular sewing machine, it worked fine. Also when I began invisible stitching, the knot I tie is always too small and it runs through the fabric easily, so I would tie 3 different knots at the same place to make the knot big enough not to fall out.
